What are we best known for?

Possibly the Messerschmitt

That is, if you are obsessive about antique three-wheeled cars. Or if you're the pedestrian who has been trying to avoid the buzzing, blue 'Mr Schmitt' on the streets of Glebe or Chippendale.

A more common way we'll pop onto the radar screens is for our Great Editorial Design and visual communication. Our track record speaks for itself, with some of the region's most prominent publishers and editors working with us to create, position and re-think their publications. They'll tell you about how we actually listen. And how we work closely with them in a conversational way, to develop a unique creative outcome for each project.

Having worked on complex editorial projects for many years, we are concentrating on being champions for the design process that will allow our clients to connect their idea to reality. They'll probably tell you how surpising it is to work with a team of people who love ideas, who actually read the stories and get into the minds of readers.

This is exactly how it went with our recent Jakarta Globe Newspaper project. From the west, where the business model for quality journalism is clearly failing, the countries of a growing Asia are a bright, energetic and optimistic growth-market. We were privileged to be a part of that rare thing... a newspaper start-up.

We worked with a group of consultants from around the region to turn the proprietor's ambitious dream of a new, high quality daily newspaper into reality.

Combining Technical, Editorial and Systems Design thinking, we turned a typically abstract design brief into a series of options that we could use as a 'visual argument'. We pursued three main options that went from the futuristic to the authoritative.

Our deep knowledge of the technical, structural and typographical detail required for a hard-working product like a newspaper, linked nicely with our experience and understanding of how to tell stories that speak in the clearest voice to their audience.

Working with the the team enabled us to seamlessly integrate design into the news process. As we say. Design may not be the single thing that rescues newspapers around the world, but they sure as anything won't survive without it.
